A little baking - Nian Kou

My Lunar new year cake, Nian Kou
Ingredients :
Gula Melaka  500g
thick coconit milk 500g
Glutinous rice flour 500g
Babana leaves , wash n boil over hot water, a few minutes
pandan leaves, wash, squash and tie them into a bundle

Step 1: -Boil coconut milk with the pandan leaves and the gula melaka
medium heat, stir occassionally til all the gula melaka melts.
-Remove the pandan leaves, strain n leaves to cool

Step 2 Sieve the flour and stir into the cooled mixture from step 1

step 3 : Spray a thin layer of olive oil on the container, lay the cleaned banana leaves, then pour the mixture into the container. Steam 2 hrs at least.

this is about 3cm high - 2 hrs steaming is good

almost 5-6cm high, 2 hrs not enough, center portion was not cooked.

just eat it original way for the first few days, or steam it again

I went to Flower Dome, as it is Lunar new year period, the gardens has a lot of activities for the visitors. One of them was face mask painting. I painted an owl, of course.

It's our 30th anniversary! couldn't believed it. 

It has been filled with love, anger, care & concern  etc.. and best part was watching our kids grow up to be wonderful kids, beautiful people . I am not rich but I am contented.

Each year our topic changes, now it's more towards our health care as we are all aging.

I did a curtain for my room glass panel to give its privancy. They are just two simple rectangular pieces. My girl was helping with me the measuring and cutting, but the we had more fun talking and laughing than sewing them. Looking at my curtains now will give me sweet memories and our laughter still cling to the curtains. Moreover, the lighting from the owl cabinet gives my room a soft effect. one stone kills many birds!!!!

Tomorrow is Valentine's day. It's time to get the hubby a little present for Valentine and Lunar new year!!! Spotted some nice sale with quality material for the shirt, buy 2, same design different colour.

Who cares?! It must be comfortable and most important he likes them.

My girl's in-laws will joining us for the reunion dinner. It's going to be more interesting. We will have steamboat and some cook food, some vegetarians and some meat. I am hoping to do a good dinner for all. This is my 3rd marketing for the dinner. As I was resting at the bus-stop, I saw an owl , hunchback owl looking towards me. After a few vechicles passedmby it dissappeared. another one appeared. I drew it once I reached home, but really forgot how the second look like.

Labrador Park

It was CSC Healthy Lifestyle Walk @ Labrador Park. I decided to join and have fun too.  This is a Friday evening, 2 Feb2018. The weather was extremely great, no rain no sun, very windy and cooling. Air smell especially crisp and fresh.

The whole walk was well planned. There were a lot of usher along the loop. First we walked thru the board walk way, then along the beach. The view was interesting and I love the breeze as I sweat. It gives me the energy to go further. I think the toughest was part where we need to walk up the slopes, there after it's really easy, cosy walk. The loop id about 5.5km.

The park itself is well maintained and clean. There are signs along the way too.

1988/9 one morning, my lady engineer , Kim asked me. "Margaret, I have something I think you may like.."
I opened it and "WOW!!! yes ! I LOVE it"
Hope Kim is doing well. People used to think it's difficult to work with a woman. She didn't quite like me, neither did I .
We were put in a same team one day, that's how we appreciate each other and many times in the same frequency.
I missed working with her. No waste time, no beat around the bush, direct n faithful.
